A Heart for my Valentine: Heart-Shaped Cookies

A heart for your Valentine

Today, three years ago, I met Mister Chaosküche at a friend’s party. A friend of mine had „recommended“ him to me, so to say. 😉 And she was very right! I do not want to spend a day without him any more. So, I have taken up on Zorra’s invitation to make an edible heart on this special day. Here you find the round-up of other edible hearts.

Here they are: Mister Chaosküche’s Heart-Shaped Cookies, because he likes having cookies instead of breakfast on the weekends very much. The heart-shaped cookies are actually simple short bread cookies, but the pink icing makes them very special, and of course the love they are made with. They are a bit kitshy, aren’t they?

Ingredients for the Cookies:

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 8g vanilla sugar
  • 65 g white sugar

Ingredients for the Icing:

  • icing sugar
  • 1-2 Tblsp red fruit juice

Make a shortpastry out of all cookie ingredients and put it in the fridge to cool for at least 30 minutes. Roll out dough and cut out heart-shaped cookies. Bake them for about 15 Minutes at 200 degrees C.

Stir icing sugar and fruit juice together and put icing on top of the cookies.
